Charango

I’ve wanted a charango for years but never found one in London and I could never be bothered to order it from overseas.  Amazingly, I found this one in a charity shop.  I’ll post a video recording at some point as it sounds great, like a pimped ukulele.  Very pleased.  Another one for the miniature instrument collection.

This charango is from Peru.  The instrument was invented in the Viceroyalty of Peru, though that was in the olden days. Now days the Viceroyalty of Peru is Peru & Bolivia.

Butterflies and charango.

Historically, a charango’s body used to be made from an armadillo shell though now, thankfully, they’re made from wood.
