Halloween

Yep, it’s Halloween weekend.  Teenagers dressed as teenagers knocking on doors demanding ten pound notes or a bottle of Strongbow.  Children begging for food.  I love this weekend.  And a quick search of the internet pulled up this banjolele Halloween number.  Happy Halloween.

Mareva Galanter – french retro ukulele lady

Bit slow on this one but I just stumbled across Mareva Galanter’s excellent album, Ukuyeye, on spotify.  A Former Miss France, she has been a Model, and has also acted in a few films.  She’s currently working with the band, Nouvelle Vague.  The album is rather good in a very French kind of way.  Ukulele, mixed in with an array of synths, shakers and drum machines, seems to work rather well.

Below is a video of her song, Pourquoi Pas Moi.  Her other videos are worth a look.  They parody the scopitone videos of the early sixties.

Katsuhiko Haida – Japanese ukulele man

Katsuhiko Haida, I have no idea who you are because I can’t read Japanese but I like your style.  I like it a lot.

ukulele cake

Everyone loves cake so here’s a selection of ukulele novelty cakes I found on the Internet.

So you’re inspired by the cakes.  Here’s a guide to making a ukulele cake I stumbled across.  I must admit, at first I was in wonderment at the above items and then, after looking at that blog, I realised you can buy a cake tin shaped like a musical instrument.  Who would have thought it?  They still look great though with some delicate icing work.

Coconut ukulele

Sadly, I think these ukuleles are for decoration only, but I’m sure there’s an authentic cocunut ukulele out there.

You put the lime in the cocunut ukulele.
