Not sure when the album is released but apparently there was some kind of loft event last night for Red Hot + Rio 2. Nice looking ukulele Zach’s playing there.

Beirut cover of a Caetano Veloso song, which I believe is on the Red Hot + Rio 2 album, a Brazilian inspired cover compilation, featuring St Vincent, Dirty Projectors, Beck, Tom Zé and Os Mutantes. It’s scheduled for release on the 28th of June, 2011. Looks like it’ll be good.
OK, so I’ve been away and catching up on news and one of the items to catch my attention was Eddie Vedder, of Pearl Jam fame, is releasing a solo album, Ukulele Songs, of correct, you guessed it, ukulele songs on the 31st of May, 2011.
Especially exciting, for me anyway, is Cat Power will be a guest on the album performing a duet with Eddie on the song, Tonight You Belong to Me. The current single’s called, Longing to Belong, and should gave you a taster of what’s to come.
Amanda Palmer, now Eddie Vedder – I can see this ukulele album thing catching on.

Sorry for the inactivity on the site over the last five weeks. I’ve been on the other side of the world, relaxing in the sunshine, no internets, lots of wine and lovely food. The world of ukuleles was having a rest. However, on my travels I did stumble across a very tasty coffee from Matakana coffee roasters called, Love Shack Coffee – potion No 9, which was a fine blend and also has a hula girl playing the ukulele on the packaging. A double bonus.
