Pianosaurus – the greatest toy instrument group, ever

Pianosaurus were a 1980s New York toy instrument band.  They self-released two live albums and also recorded a debut album, Groovy Neighborhood, for Rounder Records in 1986.  There’s a second album but it was never released.  I wonder if the tapes still exist because if they did they should release the album.  Hell, I’d even release it.  As far as I know there’s no ukuleles in it but hey, toy guitars, toy piano and toy drums – lets not get picky.

The old dope peddler by The Three Terrors

The Three Terrors were an infrequent live covers act starring Stephin Merritt, LD Beghtol and Dudley Klute.  Each show was a extravagant affair based around a theme.  I think the three terrors stopped playing live a long time ago so I’d given up hope of ever hearing them.  However, thanks to the internet (youtube and ageing spinster) I finally got to hear one of their shows.

The old dope peddler is a Tom Lehrer song from the show Drink, Drugs and Delirium, at the Bowery in 2003.  Enjoy.

Amanda Palmer, Stephin Merritt, Neil Gaiman and Moby -

I’m off out now but have to quickly blog this.  I’ve seen a few mentions of it and have only just got round to watching it.  Amanda Palmer with guests on Craig Ferguson  Got to be one of the oddest looking supergroups of all time.  I love it.  If Stephin Merritt lived in the UK they would have cut his benefits after the riots. Ukuleles and toy piano.
